What’s included?

On trek includes – sleeping tents, dinning tents, toilet and shower tents, toilet seats, mats, duffle bags, cooking utensils, all meals, guide, trek chef assistants and horses.

Day 1
Arrive Paro
You will land at Paro international airport, after having experienced one of your most memorable flights with the airline taking you through the sky offering spectacular glimpses of the Himalayan Ranges, including Mt Everest, Kanchenjunga and other Bhutanese peaks. The landing, supposed to be at one of the most challenging airports is also thrilling. Our company’s representative will meet you and escort you to a hotel for lunch. After lunch, we will start our sightseeing with Paro’s most historic and significant landmarks, such as the National Museum and Paro Rimpong Dzong (Fortress). Overnight in Paro.
Day 2
Paro Festival – Drive to Thimphu
Today we will attend Paro Festival with local people. In the evening drive to Thimphu which takes about one and half hours. Overnigh hotel in Thimphu.
Day 3
Thimphu
In the morning, drive to the north of Thimphu from where we will take an hour hike to Tango Monastery. In the afternoon, visit the following: the National Library, with its extensive collection of priceless Buddhist manuscripts, the Institute for Zorig Chusum (commonly known as the Painting School), the National Institute of Traditional Medicine, where Bhutan’s famed traditional herbal medicines are compounded and dispensed. Tashichhodzong, the main secretariat building which holds the throne room of His Majesty, the King. Overnight hotel in Thimphu.
Day 4
Thimphu – Punakha
Breakfast at hotel then drive up into the mountains and the spectacular Dochula pass at a height of around 3,140m. If the weather is clear we will be able to enjoy superb views of the high Himalayan mountain peaks. On the way to Punakha, visit Chimey Lhakhang located on a hillock in the centre of the valley below Metsina. Built in 1499 the temple is also known as the “ Temple of Fertility”. A wooden effigy of the lama’s thunderbolt is preserved in the lhakhang, and childless women go to the temple to receive a blessing. Visit Punakha Dzong, built by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1637. Punakha served as the capital of Bhutan until 1955, and it is still the winter seat of the Je Khenpo (Chief Abbot). Overnight hotel in Punakha.
Day 5
Punakha – Phobjikha
After breakfast, we will drive to Phobjikha Valley, also called Gangtey Goenpa. Upon arrival, visit Gangtey Goenpa, the only Nyingmapa Monastery in western Bhutan. Later in the afternoon, we can set out for exploratory walk in the vicinity villages and absorb the life of the farmers and will walk further to the Crane Information Centre which has information displays about the Black-Necked Crane which migrate from Tibet to this valley in winter. Overnight hotel in Phobjikha.
Day 6
Phobjikha – Paro
After breakfast, drive to Paro, en-route in Thimphu visit Simthokha Dzong, one of the oldest fortresses of the country, which now houses the Institute for Language and Cultural Studies. Overnight in Paro.
Day 7
Paro – Hike to Taktshang
Today we will hike to Tiger Nest temple which takes about 3 hours through a lovely blue pine forest. The Buddhist saint Guru Rinpoche came in the 7th century on a flying tigress and meditated in a cave for three months. The monastery which clings to a huge cliff 900m above the Paro valley was destroyed by fire in 1998. It was immediately restored to its original structure. After lunch walk down hill and drive to Drugyal Dzong. If the sky is clear we can see Mt. Jomolhari on the background. Overnight in Paro.
Day 8
Departure
After breakfast, transfer for your onward flight destination.
