In olden days, this was the trail that the rice planters of Haa used to travel to Paro to help the people of Paro plant and harvest rice. This trek offers you parallel views of Haa and Paro valley, and also spectacular glimpse of Mt. Jomolhari (abode of goddess), Jichu Drake, Kanchenjunga (Sikkim) and others. You will climb the summit of Kungkarpo Pass (sky burial) at 4,350m which is the highest elevation on your trek.

After breakfast we will drive to Haa valley across Chele La pass. Meet our trekking crews and begin our trek along an unpaved road for less than hour. We will be taking the footpath trails on the right side of the village, which will lead us to a gradual ascend through yak herder’s camp and make our final climb toward Sagala pass. Our camp is just below the pass at 3,150m. Overnight in camp.
Distance: 9km, walking time: 6 hours, ascents: 700m, descent: 100m, camp altitude: 3,850m
After climbing for 30 minutes, we will reach the Sagala Pass (3,550m). On the day with clear weather, we will have a magnificent view of Mt. Jumolhari and Jichu Drake. Once this pass is crossed, begin walking on the right side of the trail. After several ascents and descents on a trail through rhododendrons and meadows, we will finally reach the top of a ridge at 4,100meters from where we will see the entire Haa valley. We will again involve occasional ascents and descents through forest of hemlock and juniper till we reach to our camp. Overnight in camp.
Distance: 11km, walking time: 6 hours, ascents: 500m, descents: 350m
We will start walking downhill for few minutes on the ridge through meadows and yak herders camp. We will then climb uphill through the forest of tall rhododendrons tress, meadows adorned with stone cairns to Kung karpo Pass (4,350m). From here we will be walking up and down with panoramic view of Paro valley on the left and Haa valley on the right till we reach Chelela Pass at 3,990m. Our car will be waiting here to transfer us to Thimphu.Overnight hotel in Thimphu.
